Terms of Service

1. Who we are

CandidThread (“CandidThread”, “we”, “us”) is an online service, run from New Zealand, that helps you prepare job applications and interviews. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use candidthread.com, the app and the browser extension. Questions go to [email protected].

2. Your account

• You need to be at least 16 to use CandidThread.
• An account is for one person. Give an email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself.
• You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.

3. Your content

Everything you put into CandidThread (resumes, CVs, stories, job descriptions, notes, answers, recordings) and everything it drafts for you stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run the service for you: to show it to you, to send it to the AI services that do the work (listed in the Privacy Policy), and to back it up. We don’t sell it, show you ads, or use it to train AI.

You’re responsible for having the right to add what you add. In particular:

• Recordings. Only record an interview when everyone in it has agreed, and when the law where you and they are allows it. CandidThread asks you to confirm this before every recording.
• Other people’s information. Referees, interviewers and colleagues may appear in what you write. Include only what you need for your applications.

4. What the AI does, and doesn’t

• CandidThread uses AI to suggest resume changes, write cover letters, predict interview questions, give feedback and transcribe recordings. AI can be wrong. Read everything before you send it; what you send to an employer is your decision and your responsibility.
• Drafts are built only from what you’ve told CandidThread, and are checked for claims you haven’t made. That check is careful but not perfect: if a draft says something that isn’t true of you, don’t send it.
• CandidThread doesn’t apply to jobs for you and can’t promise interviews, offers or any outcome.

5. Using CandidThread fairly

Please don’t:

• use CandidThread to deceive employers, for example to invent experience or credentials;
• share your account, resell the service, or run scripts or bots against it;
• try to get around plan limits, break or probe its security, or copy the service;
• upload anything unlawful, or anything you don’t have the right to share.

If you do, we may limit or close your account (see section 9).

6. Plans and payment

• Free costs nothing and needs no card. Its monthly allowances are shown on the pricing page and in your account. We may change them; we’ll tell you in the app first.
• Pro is paid monthly or every 3 months, in advance. It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. The price is the one shown before you pay. We don’t add tax on top where we don’t yet collect it; if that changes, you’ll see it before you pay.
• For now, Pro can only be bought in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Free works everywhere.
• Pro has fair-use limits so that one account can’t run up costs for everyone: up to 100 tailored jobs, 60 mock interviews, 10 hours of interview recordings and 5 hours of read-aloud a month. A normal job search doesn’t come close.
• Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Receipts and invoices come from Stripe.
• If we change Pro’s price, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the change reaches your next renewal, so you can cancel first.
• Early supporters (people we invited before launch) get 50% off Pro for as long as they stay subscribed. The discount ends if the subscription is cancelled and runs out.

7. Cancelling and refunds

• Cancel any time from Account → Plan → Manage billing. Pro stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your account moves to Free with everything kept.
• 7-day refund. If you ask within 7 days of your first Pro payment, we’ll refund it in full and end Pro. Email [email protected] from your account’s email address. This applies to your first subscription, not to renewals.
• Otherwise payments aren’t refunded, including for part of a period, except where the law says they must be or where we end the service early (section 9).
• If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or other consumer law that can’t be excluded by agreement. If you use CandidThread for a business, the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn’t apply.

8. The service

We work to keep CandidThread running and your data safe, and back it up every night. But it’s a young service: it can be unavailable, change, or have bugs, and we don’t promise any particular uptime. Keep your own copy of anything you can’t lose: Account → Export my data gives you everything in one file.

9. Ending

• You can delete your account at any time from Account. It deletes everything straight away; a paid plan is cancelled first.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, usually after warning you and giving you a chance to export your data, unless the problem is serious or the law requires otherwise.
• If we shut CandidThread down, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice to export your data, and refund the unused part of any Pro period.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows: CandidThread is provided “as is”; we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as a missed job, lost income or lost opportunities; and our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and NZ$100. This doesn’t limit liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights under section 7.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as CandidThread changes. For a change that matters, we’ll email you or tell you in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using CandidThread after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account.

12. Law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the courts of New Zealand have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protections of your own country’s law that can’t be excluded.
